DAY 1
Monday

USA-DUBLIN – Depart JFK Airport on Aer Lingus for overnight flight to Ireland. Diner is served shortly after take-off.
DAY 2
Tuesday
Sept 10
DUBLIN – Morning arrival at Dublin Airport where your Driver/Guide greets you. Leaving the airport, as we travel into Dublin Town, we enjoy a panoramic tour where we pass many historic sights. En route, we see statue filled O’Connell Street, The General Post Office scene of the 1916 Easter Uprising, as well as Georgian Square. After breakfast (on your own) in Dublin, we will continue on for a visit to St. Patrick’s Cathedral where Oliver Swift gave his famous sermons. We also see the famous 8th century manuscripts known as “The Book of Kells”, housed in Trinity College. After checking into our hotel, some time to rest. This afternoon we enjoy inside visits to Dublin Castle and Kilmainham Jail. Overnight and dinner is at our hotel.

DUBLIN – After a full Irish breakfast, our journey heads south to Glendalough, monastic settlement in the 6th century of St. Kevin. We also visit Powerscourt one of the most beautiful estates in Ireland. Situated in the mountains of Wicklow, it was originally an important strategic site for the Anglo-Normans who came to Ireland in the late 12th century. By the year 1300 a castle had been built here and was in the possession of the Le Poer (Power) family from which it takes its name. The succeeding centuries saw the castle held for different periods by powerful families such as the O’Tooles and the Fitzgeralds, Earls of Kildare. We return to Dublin for optional shopping along Grafton Street in the heart of Dublin’s pedestrian. Overnight in Dublin. Dinner is on your own.

DUBLIN-KILKENNY-KINSALE – After breakfast today, we travel south out of Dublin through Naas, home of The Irish National Stud Farm. On our way to Kilkenny, we pass The Rock of Cashel and legend has it that St. Patrick baptized many of the ancient Kings here. As we continue on to Kilkenny, an ancient Medieval Town once home to many microbreweries, including the still standing Smithwick’s Brewery. It is located in the yard of a now ruined Abbey, carrying on a brewing tradition that apparently began with the monks of the aforementioned abbey in the 14th century. We pass by the completely refurbished Medieval Kilkenny Castle. Our journey continues into picturesque Kinsale, now home to many Artisans and gourmets. An optional two hour sailing trip is available. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.

KINSALE-BLARNEY-KILLARNEY – After a full Irish breakfast, you have some time to stroll the streets of Kinsale. Perhaps find some art by locals or have a cup of tea at the famous Blue Haven Hotel. We continue to Blarney and it’s 14th century kissing stone with time to shop the well-stocked Blarney Woolen Mills. Our journey continues over the Kerry and Cork Mountains to Killarney for dinner and overnight.

MUCKROSS HOUSE-DINGLE PENINSULA – Once again, after breakfast, we visit Muckross House and Gardens. Situated in Killarney National Park, Muckross House and Gardens are among the most popular of Irish visitor attractions. Queen Victoria paid a visit here, to the Herbert family, in August 1861. In recent years, many of the rooms in the magnificent mansion have been restored to their original Victorian splendor. All of this enjoyed while traveling the old fashioned way by a horse pulled Jaunting Cart Ride. We then experience the true beauty of Ireland on this full day tour to the magnificent Dingle Peninsula. Traveling via Tralee and the Slieve Mish Mountains, take in the spectacular views along the rugged Atlantic coastline, the quaint fishing village of Dingle and the ominous views of the Blasket Islands from Slea Head. Return to Killarney for overnight. Dinner is on your own. Tonight is a great night to experience some of the local pub entertainment. If you have the chance, try Laurel’s Singing Pub one of the liveliest places in the area .

KILLARNEY-TARBERT-CLIFFS OF MOHER-GALWAY – Morning departure from Killarney takes us first across The River Shannon on The Tarbert Ferry. We continue via Liscannor home to John Holland who invented the submarine. The famous Holland Tunnel in NYC is named for him. Our next stop is the majestic Cliffs of Moher, which rise 700 feet and stretch along the Atlantic Coastline for five miles. We next pass by Lisdoonvarna where every September the world renowned “Martch Making” Festival is held. Through the Burren to Galway for dinner and overnight.

CONNEMARA – Today, we take in the magnificent views of the Connemara region, Ireland’s treasure of wild, natural beauty where Gaelic remains the only spoken language. We travel via Clifden to Kylemore Abbey, monastic home of the Benedictine Nuns before returning to Galway for overnight. Dinner on your own.
DAY 9

Sept 17
GALWAY-SLIGO-DONEGAL-GLENVEAGH-DERRY – After breakfast, we depart and head north first stopping at Sligo, birthplace of William Butler Yeats. He is buried there at Drumcliff. We continue into Donegal for lunch stop (on your own). Next we travel into Glenveagh National Park, long associated with the McIllhenny Family renowned for it’s popular Tabasco Sauce. The Glenveagh Castle, which sits 40,000 acres of mountains, woods, lakes and a herd of red deer, was built between 1870-1873. Next, we continue onto Derry and overnight at The Beech Hill country House. For over 270 years this fine country house has stood on the high ground at Ardmore, surrounded by 32 acres. This hotel is famous to many Americans because annually the hotel commemorates The US Marines who stayed at Beech Hill during the second World War. Dinner & overnight at the hotel.
DAY 10

DERRY – After breakfast, we enjoy a “Walled in City” Tour of Derry. Many consider this the 8th wonder of the world. This is the last fully intact walled in city in all of Europe. This portion of Derry overlooks the Bog Side of Derry where many of the historic events which immersed the people of Northern Ireland. Next, we visit the Tower Museum, which explains the history of this magnificent city recently voted Europe’s Best Museum. Free time in Derry to stroll amongst the shops. Dinner is on your own. Overnight Beech Country Hill House.

DERRY-OMAGH-NEWMARKET-EN-FERGUS – Morning departure from Derry has us first stopping at Omagh, home of the Ulster American Folk Park. An outdoor museum, which tells the story of emigration from Ulster to America in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. We continue south to the magnificent Dromoland Castle. Built in the 16th century, Dromoland Castle is the ancestral seat of the O’Brien’s who are one of the few native Gaelic families of royal blood. Arrive late afternoon. Dinner on your own.

NEWMARKET-EN-FERGUS – A fabulous full Irish breakfast awaits you today. An optional tour for the adventurous takes us to Neagh a small market village in the west lakes district of Ireland. Experience where time has stood still while you shop as the locals do. Our next stop is Killaloe Killaloe is situated on the banks of the River Shannon, about one kilometer below Lough Derg, in a valley hemmed in by the Slieve Bernagh Mountains of Clare and the Arra Hills of Tipperary. It is the center of a beautiful and historic district – a land of legend and story, endowed by nature with a beauty unsurpassed along the Shannon basin. You may decide to stay at Dromoland and have time today to enjoy this Five Star Deluxe property and all of it’s splendor. Activities include: cycling, horseback riding, fishing or leisure walks through the romantic gardens. This evening, we enjoy a “Gourmet Farewell Meal” in the main dining room overlooking Lough Dromoland.

NEWMARKET-EN-FERGUS-SHANNON-USA – Morning departure from Dromoland takes us to nearby Shannon Airport where we have plenty of time for last minute duty-free shopping before boarding our flight home.
