Foundations of HCI

Although the game is far from complete I have finished designing the
main interface of the program for Foundations of HCI(human computer-interface)

After looking at the screenshots page, you will see a significant improvement in
design quality from the original interface to the current one. I am happy with the
current interface because I feel it helps to accomplish the goals of the program by
have a sleek processional quality to it and makes the functionality of each
part of the program very clear.

The game board which depicts the classroom is a temporary picture and
will not be an actual photograph in the end. It will look more like a cartoonish drawing.

The only part of the interface that still needs adjusting is the positioning of the
buttons. The help button will probably be in the lower left hand corner and the
other buttons will stay in the same area but have a different layout.

Usability Evaluation

Here are 2 questionnaires filled out by students who are also in my capstone
class. They filled this out and had a discussion with me after seeing the
work in progress.

Peer Review 1
Peer Review 2

From these usability evaluations I learned a great deal about how users
will interact with the program. It also helped that one was from a different
culture. Both of them found the interface easy to navigate. They gave me a
few suggestions regarding content of questions and ways to engage the user.

I think this method of user testing was extremely beneficial in this circumstance
because it gave the user a chance to evaluate the program on there own. They
were able to write down any comments they had at that time and later we
disabused it further.

Note: The evaluation discussion took place with the whole class not just
the 2 peer reviewers.
